HD 110th - Waukesha events?
HD 110th is coming up this Labor Day weekend.  During their last celebration, 105th, they had a lot of events in Waukesha.  Foghat live, in front of Library was a good time.

Anybody hear of anything happening this time around?

I heard that a proposal was presented to the Mayor last summer.

From what I heard, Jeff Barta made a proposal to Mayor Scrima from a group of investors ($1.3 million) to host the Harley Fest. They expected that that would bring the downtown about 3 million in revenue.

Scrima was not receptive.

Barta also brought this up at a WDBA meeting last year - basically same response.

REMINDER;

Harleys roar west

Weekend in Waukesha

Music lineup

=======================

I wonder why the WDBA would not be supportive?

REMEMBER:

"Downtown merchants are hoping they can convert visitors into returning customers.

"I think it'll bring us larger exposure," said Norm Bruce, president of the Downtown Business Association. "We'll have a chance to sell ourselves to people who have never been to Waukesha before."

"I think it will bring a whole new group of people downtown who will see we are biker friendly," said Lynn Gaffney. "It's a great opportunity to show off our new downtown."

Maybe our boy mayor and his DT cronies would go for some kind of event if the motorcycles were decorated to look like guitars!

Is it too late?

Does this require permission from the Mayor?

Does this need permission from the WDBA?

Can we make a plea with Drew Velozzi and Andy Ruggieri to come back and put on a good show for the event again this time?  Sure, that they won't have a restauarant and bar involved like they did before, but damn, they really did a lot for the 105th that helped put us on the map that summer!  Most of it is a blur now, I think I took in more beer that extended weekend than I have since I was still in my early 20s!

Whoever is planning current downtown events could take a few notes from how those guys did it that year.  And, whoever was planning the Guitar Town events, please, fire them before they get involved!!!

I just talked with Andy the other day, and he mentioned that he still has all his notes from the Weekend in Waukesha and knows right where to go, who to call, and what to do to put on an event like that.  That event should have been a model for Guitar Town, instead, we ended up with an embarrassing flop.  All indications so far are that the "try to get it right the second time" edition will not learn anything from last year's mistakes.
